1964 Yoko Ono

"See the smoke movement." Und John Lennon kommentiert im darauf folgenden Absatz: "This is the greatest book I've ever burned."

The artist book Grapefruit by Yoko Ono is a commercially produced artist book with a very high print-run. It was originally published by her own imprint Wunternaum Press in Tokyo in 1964. For this Ono wrote the title "Grapefruit" individually by hand on each cover. Its second edition came out through Simon & Schuster in New York in 1970 and already includes the above mentioned note by John Lennon. In 2000 it was complemented by Yoko Ono's suggestion to burn the book after reading.
